The Tale of Three Trees

28 12 2008

Yesterday my wife and I go to a bookstore looking for a new book to sale. And my wife found very interesting and thoughtful story. So I decided to look for the story at the net. So here is the story The Tale of Three Trees retold by Angela Elwell Hunt, hope it bless you all.

blockquote_1Once upon a mountaintop, three little trees stood and dreamed of what they wanted to become when they grew up.

The first little tree looked up at the starts twinkling like diamonds above him.
“I want to hold treasure,” he said. “I want to be covered with gold and filled with precious stones. I will be the most beautiful treasure chest in the world!”

The second little tree looked out at the small stream trickling by on its way to the ocean.
“I want to be a strong sailing ship,” he said. “I want to travel mighty waters and carry powerful kings. I will be the strongest ship in the world!”

The third little tree looked down into the valley below where busy men and women worked in a busy town. “I don’t want to leave this mountaintop at all,” she said. “I want to grow so tall that when people stop to look at me they will raise their eyes to heaven and think of God. I will be the tallest tree in the world!”

Years passed. The rains came, the sun shone, and the little trees grew tall. One day three woodcutters climbed the mountain.

The first woodcutter looked at the first tree and said, “This tree is beautiful. It is perfect for me.” With a swoop of his shining axe, the first tree fell. “Now I shall be made into a beautiful chest,” thought the first tree. “I shall hold wonderful treasure.”

The second woodcutter looked at the second tree and said, “This tree is strong. It is perfect for me.” With a swoop of his shining axe, the second tree fell. “Now I shall sail mighty waters,” thought the second tree. “I shall be a strong ship fit for kings!”

The third tree felt her heart sink when the last woodcutter looked her way. She stood straight and tall and pointed bravely to heaven. But the woodcutter never even looked up. “Any kind of tree will do for me,” he muttered. With a swoop of his shining axe, the third tree fell.

The first tree rejoiced when the woodcutter brought him to a carpenter’s shop, but the busy carpenter was not thinking about treasure chests. Instead his work-worn hands fashioned the tree into a feed box for animals. The once beautiful tree was not covered with gold or filled with treasure. He was coated with sawdust and filled with hay for hungry farm animals.

The second tree smiled when the woodcutter took him to a shipyard, but no mighty sailing ships were being made that day. Instead the once-strong tree was hammered and sawed into a simple fishing boat. Too small and too weak to sail an ocean or even a river, he was taken to a little lake. Everyday he brought in loads of dead, smelly fish.

The third tree was confused when the woodcutter cut her into strong beams and left her in a lumberyard. “What happened?” the once tall tree wondered. All I ever wanted to do was stay on the mountaintop and point to God.”

Many, many days and nights passed. The three trees nearly forgot their dreams. But one night golden starlight poured over the first tree as a young woman placed her newborn baby in the feedbox. “I wish I could make a cradle for him,” her husband whispered.

The mother squeezed his hand and smiled as the starlight shone on the smooth and sturdy wood. “This manger is beautiful” she said.

And suddenly the first tree knew he was holding the greatest treasure in the world.

One evening a tired traveler and his friends crowded into the old fishing boat. The traveler fell asleep as the second tree quietly sailed out into the lake. Soon a thrashing storm arose. The little tree shuddered. He knew he did not have the strength to carry so many passengers safely through the wind and rain. The tired man awaken. He stood up, stretched out his hand, and said, “Peace.” The storm stopped as quickly as it had begun.

And suddenly the second tree knew he was carrying the King of heaven and earth!

One Friday morning the third tree was startled when her beams were yanked from the forgotten woodpile. She flinched as she was carried through an angry, jeering crowd. She shuddered when soldiers nailed a man’s hands to her. She felt ugly and harsh and cruel.

But on Sunday morning, when the sun rose and the earth trembled with joy beneath her, the third tree knew that God’s love had changed everything.

He had made the first tree beautiful.

He had made the second tree strong.

And every time people thought of the third tree, they would think of God.

And that was better than being the tallest tree in the world.blockquote_2

Jesus is Better than Santa

25 12 2008

Santa lives at the North Pole.
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa comes but once a year
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies
JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says “You better not cry”
JESUS says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.

Santa’s little helpers make toys
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree
JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.

JESUS is still the reason for the season.
have a blessed Christmas day for you & family…

Month of Silence

30 11 2008

This month I haven’t wrote anything (well except this one ^_^ ).
vault.pngI call this month as Month of Silence (well at least that’s for my blog ^_^ ). As all we know there are global economic crisis and it cause Indonesian Rupiah very weak against US Dollar. Indonesia Rupiah is drop from around IDR 9,300.- / USD to IDR 12,500.- / USD (last week rate). It makes our computer sales quite difficult (because we sell with the newest rate).

And as far as I can see the crisis effect a lot of business at Indonesia. I hope next year will be better year for business even though I myself believe it’s not too bad compare to the crisis at Indonesia at 1997 (Indonesian Rupiah is drop from IDR 2,500.- / USD to IDR 15,000.- / USD).

Well let’s just be optimistic and pause a moment to pray to God so the business climate will be more condusive (at least that’s what I do ). God bless us all.

WAARGEBEURD VERHAAL – TRUE STORY – KISAH NYATA

14 10 2008

Another inspiring and touching story from my sister via email. 😀

> Zegt een zoon tegen zijn 55 JARIGE vader : “Pap, wil je een marathon met me lopen?” De vader, die ondanks dat hij een hartaandoening heeft zegt JA.
> Seorang anak berkata kepada ayahnya yang berumur 55 tahun: “Pap, maukah kamu ikut marathon bersamaku?” Sang ayah, meskipun dia memiliki gangguan di jantungnya berkata YA.
> A child said to his 55 years old father : “Dad, would you do a marathon with me?” The father, who, despite that he has a heart condition says “YES”.

> Ze lopen een marathon samen.
> Mereka ikut marathon bersama-sama
> They do marathon together.

> Zoon vraagt : Pap wil je nog een marathon met me lopen? Vader zegt weer ja.
> Sang anak bertanya: Pap, maukah kamu ikut marathon lagi bersamaku? Sang ayah lagi-lagi berkata YA.
> The son asked : “Dad, would you do marathon with me again?” Again the father said “YES”

> Op een dag vraagt de zoon aan zijn vader “Pap wil je de Ironman met mij doen?”. De “Ironman” is de zwaarste triatlon die er bestaat (4 km zwemmen, 180 KM fietsen en vervolgens 42 km hardlopen). Vader zegt weer ja.
> Suatu hari bertanyalah sang anak kepada ayahnya, ” Pap, maukah kamu ikut The Ironman bersamaku?”
> One day the son asks his father, “Dad would you do ‘The Ironman’ with me?” (The Ironman is the heaviest triathlon ever invented (4 km swim, 180 km cycling and 42 km running). The Father says yes again.

> Het verhaal klinkt nog niet erg spannend totdat je dit filmpje ziet :
> Cerita ini kedengarannya tidak terlalu menarik sampai saat anda melihat filmnya:
> This story sounds not exciting yet, until you see the movie:

> VERGEET NIET HET GELUID AAN TE ZETTEN
> JANGAN LUPA HIDUPKAN SUARA
> Do not forget the sound to continue.

THE MOVIE

> Ontroerend.
> Menyentuh hati.
> Touching.

God bless you all.

Think Differently and Positively

17 09 2008

Another inspiring story across in my life (via mail :D) . And here is the story.
Quote1 A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: ‘I am blind, please help.’ There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, ‘Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?’

The man said, ‘I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.’
What he had written was: ‘Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it.’

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective? Quote2

We should Think Differently and Positively so we could achieve our goal in our life whatever they are. 😀 I hope you guys bless by this story and share it with everyone you want 😀 .

Independence Day

17 08 2008

Today is the 63th independence day of Indonesia. What does it means? More Discount at Plaza or Mall? It’s a holiday? A lot of event on television? Games around your neighborhood ? Or something we memorize as an important moment in our life? Or it just an ordinary day like the other day?

To some people maybe it means nothing, but to some people it means they could live until today to celebrate it. To me it means, I have to do more for the better Indonesia. Happy 63th Independence Day Indonesia. ^_^

PS: Congratulation for the gold at Beijing 2008.
