Addicted to Oil

Lately Global Warming become a recent issue and become a concern to a lot of people.
I myself agree that we should find another energy resources. We become addicted to oil. As almost all of our resources comes from oil. Renewable energy seems like a perfect solution for this issue, but looks like renewable energy still expensive nowadays.
Renewable energy :

1. Biofuels
2. Biomass
3. Geothermal
4. Hydro power
5. Solar power
6. Tidal power
7. Wave power
8. Wind power

Those are renewable energy with advantage and disadvantage. We ourself could help to become less addicted to oil. For example :

1. If we produce product, we could think how our product could become recyclable.
2. We could use less electricity, less paper, and etc.

Let us become less addicted to oil for the sake of generations to come. What do you think?

The New Firefox 3.0

Several time ago, I join Firefox pledge to download The New Firefox 3.0 within 24 hours after it available for download. Firefox want to break the world record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours. And here I am using the new Firefox 3.0. Almost all my addons works (with the new update from the addons). But I found that my favorite addon (imglikeopera) didn’t work (sigh).

But I found a (temporary) work around for it . Here’s how to do it :

1. Download imglikeopera if you haven’t got it.
2. Right click the imglikeopera file and chose open archive (I’m using 7z) or using any of your compression tools. The file could be open just like an ordinary compressed file.
3. Edit install.rdf file inside the addons.
4. Find this tag “<em:maxVersion>2.0.0.*</em:maxVersion>” and change it to “<em:maxVersion>3.0.0.*</em:maxVersion>” (without quote char).
5. Delete this tag “<!–em:updateURL>http://imglikeopera.mozdev.org/update.rdf</em:updateURL–>”.
6. Save it and “boom” you got a working imglikeopera for Firefox 3.0. Enjoy.
7. Hopefully they got a new version of imglikeopera (the real one) soon .

I’m going to explore Firefox 3.0 more. Until now I have no complain about it.

Experiencing Acer Aspire 4720z with XP

I just got Acer Aspire 4720z (I upgrade the memory to 1Gb) about a month ago, and it was quite interesting notebook with good price. I immediately install Windows on it and found out that it comes WITHOUT (too bad) Windows XP driver.

What?! Yes indeed, it comes with only Windows Vista driver (ooouch). Well I have to find it myself, I couldn’t found any at Acer Indonesia sites. Then googling for it and I across this blog (wow thanks man). And here is the link for the driver (if you appear to read this post, I terribly sorry for the dead link, I’ll post the new link for the driver).

It’s a little bit annoying for me have to find the driver myself. But I must admit, I’m pleased with Acer 4720z performance and no complain with it yet. (wink)
